This past January, I took a really great course in songwriting over at School of Song. The instructor was Brian Eno, and of course I was thrilled! I’ve raved about him in the past and will certainly do so again in the future, but this was an inspiring experience…so much so that I decided to take some of the principles learned and exercises done, and break them out into three (count ’em: three!) separate EPs to release this year. Whoa, slow down Nellie.
The first was the instrumental, self-generating music experiment released in May and called Still Life with Perfume. The second is just released now, and it’s called Enough is Enough. It’s 5 songs with vocals and contains some actual homework assignments from the course. The third – good Lord, if I’m able – is planned as a more organic recording, but we’ll discuss that when we get to it.
For now, I hope you’ll enjoy this latest EP over at Bandcamp or right here in the player below. If you’re curious about the assignments, etc that fueled each song, you can click on the song’s title over at Bandcamp and it will reveal all the details as well as the lyrics. Thanks for your ears!
Also, a few weeks ago I was honored to sit with my old friend and collaborator Joey Madia and chat for about an hour about the music I make and the projects we’ve worked on together. Here’s that video…
