What do Jim Morrison, Alfred (Lord Tennyson to his chums), and Stevie Wonder have in common? Why, it’s Song #6 in the 2026 Song-A-Month cavalcade of course!
This one started up a few years ago as an experiment in disjointedness. The basic rhythm and the first verse were written, so it was fun getting back in the mindset of all that to finish it off. I imagine it as something of a futuristic cocktail bar vibe.
As far as Jim, Alfred and Stevie go…it’s just a little lyrical inspiration hidden plainly below. Enjoy!
LYRICS
Swing around to the terrace
It’s nice and sunny on the patio
We’ll talk about your trip to Harrisburg
And all those Pennsylvania things
I didn’t know.
Weird scenes inside the old mind
The daffodilly and the fiddle-leaf fig
Like Central Park in the snow time
You find some heaven in the way that you live
Yester-me is pestering me
Will tomorrow me
Bring sorrow to me
Swing around to the terrace
It’s nice and sunny on the patio
We’ll talk about your trip to Harrisburg
And all those Pennsylvania things
I didn’t know.
